psychometric assessment

Psychometric assessment is conducted at the suggestion of the clinician  with it's own form of Informed Consent. Psychometric assessment is is not a stand-alone part of my services. When we agree that the assessment would aid the ongoing therapy, the purpose, cost and benefits are reviewed. This type of testing is rarely covered by insurance. The psychologists who have developed and marketed this testing have ownership rights over it use and its content. 

Psychometric assessment most times reveals perspectives not otherwise identified by client or therapist.  

 This assessment helps clinicians quickly identify clients who may require more intensive evaluation. MCMI®-IV reports provide an in-depth analysis of personality and symptom dynamics and include action-oriented suggestions for therapeutic management.  Most components of personality for most clients are subclinical. This is something we'd discuss.

 Designed specifically for teenagers, the Millon® Adolescent Clinical Inventory helps identify early signs of Axis I and Axis II disorders in adolescents. Careful consideration is given to the transitional purpose and nature of adolescence while exploring maladaptive ways of adjustment. Often this assessment reveals more acute concerns which may have been overlooked or previously denied. 

 The State Trait Anger Expression Inventory was developed to assess state anger, trait anger, and anger expression and originally designed to measure the way these components contribute to medical conditions can also provide insight in to the healthy or maladaptive use of anger that helps or hurts relationships. 

The IASC is a self-report measure of an individual’s psychological functioning capacity in the areas of forming and maintaining meaningful relationships, creating a stable sense of personal identity and self-awareness, and the ability to modulate and tolerate negative affect.   John Briere  Ph.d is developed this measurement which comes from his expertise in trauma treatment.
